Since the 5th review under ECF arrangement in July 2022, macro policies have become more expansionary than expected, inflation has continued to rise, leone depreciated sharply and debt related risks increased notably. Deadly floods weakened activity highlighted climate-related risks. The risk of social unrest remains high given soaring cost living record levels food insecurity. President appointed a new economic team early 2023 which begun take decisive action tackle these challenges. Discussions focused on recent developments as well policy commitments restore stability, maintain sustainability, achieve program objectives.
